Day 6. Working on our large clay drawing

We saw a couple of Jacarandas trees at the Bundanon Trust.
We found out that Jacarandas Trees are native to Brazil, but it seems no one knows who the first person was to carry these trees or tree seeds to Australia.

Wen-Hsi's work in progress of her rock drawings. She thought about the traditional Chinese calligraphy 'Axe-Cut Strokes (Fupicun) ' and how to use the Chinese brush to create the quality of the rock.  She was also thinking about how to hang her drawings on the wall.

Wen-Hsi was inspired by the trees close to our accommodation.

She decided to use some sticks as hangers for her Chinese paper drawings.

Here is the image of the house (Musicians cottage at the Bundanon Trust) that inspired Martin to create his house drawing.

Today we were thinking about our project theme: cross-cultural identity through clay drawings.  It has been challenging to transfer this aspect into our drawing. Therefore we have been focusing on recognizable images such as the outline of the UK, Australia, and Taiwan. We also decided to draw an Australian house from Bundanon Trust. However, we have also been wondering what other imagery can be used to represent all three identities.

Wen-Hsi is also wondering if she needs to add more watercolour to the drawing. At the same time, she is thinking about our central theme relating to Clay Drawing. However, we discovered adding other media such as pen and watercolour creates some very interesting results.
