We were lucky to see the art of Arthur Boyd (1920-1999), his father Merric Boyd and mother Dorris Cough's pottery, his friends and other artist-residence collections of artworks from when they spent time here. We were impressed by Arthur's printmaking and his co-operative artistic book drawings.

We both enjoyed the collection of art, there was so much to see. It was amazing to understand that Arthur Boyd openly experimented with different artistic styles and mediums. It is also interesting to note that he spent time living in the UK before moving back to Australia. I guess he encountered lots of inspiration. His artworks styles range from landscapes to biblical mythology to figurative and surreal works.

Our Large Drawing

Martin decided to draw a kangaroo on the large drawing next to a sign. In the UK "Keep Calm Carry On" seems to be a popular slogan. To Martin, it seems to represent a British attitude of suppressing emotions and perhaps turning a blind eye to truths we would rather dismiss.

Martin's and Wen-Hsi's smaller images that helped to inspire the large clay drawing.

Wen-Hsi collected the Jacaranda's flowers and is preparing to bring them back to the UK.

For the tree, Martin decided to use a stick dipped in clay to create these marks. It works quite well for creating tree bark type marks as the marks are quite dry.

This afternoon, we took a walk to the Amphitheatre.
A Quiet space. Flys kissing our face.
The Kangaroos are the center.
Tall trees, dry and skinny.
